In Human Design, the gate in your conscious sun is considered your brand and your zone of genius. Sounds powerful, right? But here's the catch—most of us have absolutely no clue what our zone of genius actually is. Why? Because we were born with it. It’s like breathing to us. It comes so easily, so naturally, that we assume everyone else must find it just as simple. Spoiler: they don’t!

That’s why we often need someone—or a tool like Human Design—to hold up a mirror and show us what we’ve been overlooking. It’s usually the thing you brush off as “oh, that’s nothing” that turns out to be your deepest gift, your unique medicine for the world.

You Can Do It for Others, But Not Always for Yourself

Here’s another little twist: even if we are aware of our gifts, many of us can’t use them on ourselves. Sound familiar? You might be amazing at helping others untangle their lives, but totally stuck when it comes to your own stuff. I’ll give you a real-life example from my own journey.

In my Human Design chart, the gate in my conscious sun is Gate 4 – the Gate of Answers. The Gene Key shadow is intolerance, the gift understanding and the siddhi is forgiveness. Honestly, I can find solutions for just about anything and anyone. But when it comes to my own life or business? I’m often spinning in circles. The overthinking is real, and self-doubt can be a proper energy drain.

And yet… this relentless search for answers has made me a treasure trove of knowledge and depth. I used to dismiss it because it felt “too easy.” I believed, like many of us do, that if something doesn’t require struggle or hard work, it can’t possibly be valuable. But that’s just another dusty old belief we need to bin.

Your Zone of Genius is the Key to Serving  Others and Healing Yourself

Sometimes we just need another pair of eyes to spot our genius. We’re so deep inside our own jar that we can’t read the label. Then someone—like a coach, friend, or even a client—comes along and reads it for us, and suddenly everything clicks.

That’s what happened to me. I’d had hints before, but during a recent call with my coach, it landed on a whole new level. She helped me see that women come to me to get unstuck. My gift is helping others see possibilities they never even considered. I brainstorm, I offer fresh angles, and bam—they shift.

And here’s the beautiful twist: when I do that for others, I find answers for myself. It’s not a one-way thing. It’s reciprocal, regenerative, healing. It’s the opposite of what we’ve been taught. We’ve been conditioned to “fix ourselves” first, then go out and help the world. But in truth, by helping others, we help ourselves.

So here’s my gentle invitation to you: focus on where you naturally help people. Trust that in doing so, you’ll start healing and shifting your own life too.

Ask yourself:

What feels so easy, it almost feels silly to charge for it?

That’s your gold.

Double down on that. Shine your light there. That’s where your power is.

Much love,
